It was my privilege to know Jacqui Hardie when she ran Tides Beauty Therapy in Maraetai for 11 years.
I knew her in two capacities – as the then owner of the Pohutukawa Coast Times newspaper in which Jacqui advertised her business and as a client who enjoyed the benefits of her wonderful facials.
Jacqui was always immaculately presented, warm and friendly and became well-known, respected and liked in the community for the professional and top-quality services she offered her clients.
More than once she won awards for some of her treatment programmes.
Jacqui was always very knowledgeable about the treatments and products she offered.
In fact, it was Jacqui, after treating one of our teenagers for a skin problem, who picked up on an underlying medical condition (that had been overlooked by a doctor), sparking follow up medical investigation by a specialist.
I have huge respect for Jacqui as both a very caring human being and as a totally dedicated professional.
